Enjoy nature in its purest form
The natural environment around the farm and our Finca La Ramallosa invites visitors to get closer to earth, either with our quad bikes, horses or ponis for kids, 4x4 or hiking around to visit our charming old neighbours, enjoying the diversity of fauna and flora (an excellent farm for birdwatching) or watching and helping on traditional country labours of the season, such as cereal harvest, olives picking and olive oil production, sheep shearing, honey bees etc. For those more gourmets, activities like wine and extra virgin olive oil tasting or wild mushrooms harvesting (excellent area for "boletus edulis" and "amanita caesarea") will complete the journey...Share our love for gastronomy with our cooking lessons or experience such a centenary tradition like family pig slaughter.
Cultural visits to nearby villages (San Martín de Trevejo, Trevejo or Robledillo de Gata), close international destinations like Salamanca, Cáceres, Las Hurdes, Monfragüe National Park, Ciudad Rodrigo or Portugal (cannot miss Monsato and Sortelha), or a long hike from the hotel to discover roman ruins of Salvaleón (and find the almost extinct wild flower "peonías officinalis") complete the options for such special vacation days.
And if you cannot leave your golf clubs, there is a cute 9-hole natural course 45min away, Parraluz, perfect to hit the ball while looking at the stunning lake and mountain range around the greens.
QUADS
Another amazing way to discover our nature and countryside is driving one of our quads. Always complying with our security measures and respecting the environment, guided excursions are organized based on the place to visit and duration required by guests.
HUNTING & FISHING
Dove and thursh shooting and wildboar "monteria". Partridge drives and pigeon releases can be organized on demand. Enjoy flyfishing barbels running up rivers and streams during the season or at natural lakes around, and let’s get absorbed by the landscape around them. Please check availability and seasons.
BIRDWATCHING
Extremadura is considered one of the best regions in the world for Ornithology and ornithological tourism, specially in the near Monfragüe National Park (with the biggest colonies of Monk Vulture, Spanish Imperial Eagle or Black Storks) and at the Borbollon Lake (where thousands of cranes and several other species spend the winter).
But within our farm and surroundings, with a quite and lonely atmosphere, you will be able to discover a wide variety of birds that live and survive in our area, some of them rare and scarce. Big raptors, migrating or night birds will allow you to enjoy their majestic flight and their noises, especially with protected and endangered species.
ASTRONOMY
The purity of the athmosphere in Sierra de Gata allows great observation of the sky and its constellations. The absolute absence of light within dozens of miles around the farm make stars and galaxies shine even brighter, and not even needing telescopes, showing an amazing spectacle for astronomy lovers or just for the curious traveller, that may discover the Milky Way for their first time.
COOKING SCHOOL
Learn to cook with us...
Our different classes are designed for those willing to learn or improve cooking techniques valid with all kind of recipes, starting by selecting ingredients, so that cooking is done with passion, enjoying food and its preparation. We will learn, as well as cooking techniques, how to organise our kitchen, best tools and how to use them to make it easy, popular dishes, decoration and curiosities regarding products etc. Our classes and demostrations can be held at Finca La Ramallosa´s kitchen or even at your own house, if you like. Business trips can be reinforced with team building among your employees while cooking with us. Give one of our lessons as a present or surprise, celebrate your birthday cooking with us or just celebrate your trip on a different way tasting great dishes and learning how to prepare them.
